Wroxham Barns' free pumpkin patch opens 10 October, BeWILDerwood's Halloween runs to 1 November, and Pettitts gives every paying child a free pumpkin.
Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, the last full day of Norfolk’s October half term (Friday 23 to Friday 30 October). There is no big civic Halloween event in Broadland. What the district has is a run of attractions doing their own thing, and most of it is aimed at under-10s rather than scare-seekers.
Everything below was checked on the organiser’s own website on 3 October 2026. Where a date or price is not published, we say so.
The quick answer
- Pumpkin picking: Wroxham Barns’ patch is free to enter, pumpkins from £2, open 10 to 11 and 17 to 18 October, then daily through half term to 31 October, 10am to 4pm.
- Free pumpkins: Pettitts at Reedham gives every paying child a free pumpkin from 24 October to 1 November, and Wroxham Barns includes one with every half-term child ticket.
- The big Halloween day out: BeWILDerwood runs Halloween on October weekends, then every day from 24 October to 1 November, 11am to 6pm, with a Glowing Light Trail at dusk.
- On Halloween night itself: a Broads Authority ranger walk at Barton Boardwalk, 5pm to 7pm, £7.01, booking essential.

BeWILDerwood, Hoveton
BeWILDerwood’s Halloween is the biggest in the area and has already started. It runs 11am to 6pm on 3 and 4, 10 and 11, and 17 and 18 October, then every day from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November.
Children are encouraged to come in costume. There are face stencils and a spooky disco, and Twig or Treating: the characters reveal who has left twigs and who has left treats, and a completed trail sheet wins a prize. The Glowing Light Trail starts as the sun goes down, which the park sells as “all the Halloween magic, without the late bedtime”.
The park does not publish a flat price on the event page. Its pricing rewards early booking: every advance booking gets 12.5% off, and a limited number of tickets on each date are 25% off, applied automatically at checkout (BeWILDerwood). Adults need a ticket too.
Wroxham Barns: the pumpkin patch and Magic & Mischief
The Pumpkin Patch is separate from the Adventure Farm and free to enter. Thousands of pumpkins and gourds are grown on site and priced individually, from £2. It opens 10am to 4pm on 10 and 11 October, 17 and 18 October and then daily from 24 to 31 October. There is an undercover carving area, marshmallow toasting, and dogs are welcome. The maize maze becomes a potion trail on pumpkin weekends, at an extra charge (Wroxham Barns, Pumpkin Patch). One small catch: the same page lists half-term picking as starting on the 24th in one place and the 23rd in another, so check before a Friday visit.
Magic & Mischief is the half-term event on the Adventure Farm, Friday 23 October to Sunday 1 November, 10am to 5pm. Wilma the Witch runs a potion trail through the maize maze, a Witchy Workshop and a Broomstick Bootcamp obstacle course on the Field of Fun, alongside the animals and play areas. Online prices are £13.50 for adults and children aged two and over, £3 for infants, babies free, and each child ticket includes a pumpkin from the patch. Book online and you can come back free for another half-term day with the same number of tickets (Wroxham Barns, Magic & Mischief).
ROARR!, Lenwade
The dinosaur park has two Halloween strands for families.
- Dippy’s After School Adventure: Halloween Party, Friday 9 October, 5pm to 7pm, in Dinomite. £8 a child including one adult, extra adults £5. Halloween games, an hour of free play and a sing and dance with Dippy. Costumes welcome (ROARR!).
- Halloween Days run in October, with the Spooky Maze for little ones, four new haunt mazes for older children, craft sessions, live shows and meet and greets. The event page does not list the dates. ROARR! warns that some PrimEvil rides, props and haunts may be visible in the day, and asks parents of easily frightened children to speak to Guest Services first (ROARR!).
PrimEvil, the after-dark scare event, returns on “selected nights” in October 2026. It is a separate ticket, held after the park closes, and not suitable for little ones. On 3 October ROARR! still said full 2026 details were “coming soon” (ROARR!, PrimEvil).
Bure Valley Railway: children ride free
From Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, up to two children travel free with each full-paying adult on the narrow-gauge steam line between Aylsham and Wroxham, with Halloween activities and an invitation to dress up. The ride takes 45 minutes each way, with request stops at Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall, which have no facilities. Parking is free at both Aylsham and Wroxham stations (Bure Valley Railway).
Pettitts Adventure Park, Reedham
Pettitts runs free Halloween pumpkin picking from 24 October to 1 November: every paying child gets a pumpkin to carve and take home. The park is open 10am to 5pm every day and its season ends on Sunday 1 November, so this is the last week of the year. The car park is free and closes at 5.30pm. Pettitts may close in particularly bad weather, so check its Facebook page or ring 01493 700094 if the forecast is poor (Pettitts).
Fairhaven, South Walsham
Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden has Pumpkin Carving on Thursday 29 October, 10am to 2pm, the day after its Wonder Wednesday school holiday session on 28 October, 10am to 2pm. The garden’s calendar does not give a price for either (Fairhaven).
Halloween night: a ranger walk at Barton Boardwalk
On Saturday 31 October, 5pm to 7pm, Broads Authority rangers lead a Halloween nature walk to Barton Boardwalk, as the wildlife and woodland change character at dusk. It costs £7.01 and booking is essential. Meet at Barton Angler car park, Long Road, NR12 8XP (Visit the Broads, Halloween nature walk).
Something quieter: Stranger Folk at Blickling
Not Halloween as such, but in the same spirit: Stranger Folk, Volume 1: Crone Calling is a folklore adventure game played on a phone around the Blickling Estate, daily to Sunday 8 November. It runs 10am to 5pm until 25 October, then 10am to 4pm. The game is free, but normal admission charges apply (National Trust, Blickling).
Still to be confirmed
- ROARR! Halloween Days dates and PrimEvil nights. Neither is on the event pages yet.
- BeWILDerwood’s ticket prices for each date: set at checkout, not published.
- Any village or church Halloween events. None of the town councils we check (Thorpe St Andrew, Aylsham, Sprowston, Reepham) had listed one on 3 October.
Getting there and parking
BeWILDerwood, Wroxham Barns and the Bure Valley Railway’s Wroxham station are all on the Hoveton side of the river, within two miles of each other. Check Broadland roadworks and travel before a booked slot, and see parking in Broadland for the district’s free council car parks.
For everything else in half term, read October half term around the Broads. Bonfire night follows a week later: our Broadland fireworks page lists the displays. The full diary is on What’s on in the Broads.
